Prenatal and Postpartum Physical Therapy

Embrace Pregnancy With Confidence

Pregnancy is a period of dramatic shifts both in the body, and also emotionally and mentally as the expecting parents prepare themselves for their exciting new future. Many pregnant people feel uncertain about how to safely exercise and manage their pain as their body continues to change.

With my 16 years working with pregnant patients I have the confidence and experience to provide relief from your symptoms and support you through this transition. I will provide you with pregnancy exercises, education and hands on care to help you prepare to push and how to feel confident in what to expect after delivery.

  • As an exercise and movement specialist I’ll teach you how to strengthen your body throughout your pregnancy. This includes specific movement screens to identify areas that need to be prioritized for delivery and to prepare your body for life with a newborn.

  • Alleviate pain in your lower back, SI joint, pubic symphysis, round ligament, and pelvic girdle using manual techniques.

  • Prepare your body for childbirth by improving your pelvic mobility to help keep your baby in the ideal position. You will feel confident that you know how to relax your muscles for the delivery to reduce your tearing risk.

  • Reduce risk of pelvic organ prolapse, stress urinary incontinence and diastasis recti by addressing any posture or core muscle muscle weakness.

  • Perinatal Wellness: I'm passionate about educating women on perineal massage, optimal birthing positions, and postpartum recovery strategies to ensure a smooth transition into motherhood.

Post Partum Recovery

New moms face unique challenges while recovering from pregnancy and delivery. Lack of sleep and poor nutrition can worsen these challenges. It is hard to know how to prioritize yourself when there is no energy or time to spare. Having a physical therapist early on can be invaluable to provide immediate relief and guidance on mobility and exercise to allow you to care for your newborn and heal your body.

Once you receive clearance to exercise, having appropriate guidance for how to progress weight training and running will give you the peace of mind that you won’t cause pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti and incontinence.

What I Do

  • Teach you how to move safely after the birth to assure you can continue lifting, carrying and postural challenges.

  • Optimize recruitment of your core muscles and pelvic floor using Biofeedback assessment and pilates based rehabilitation.

  • Breastfeeding Support: Struggling with clogged ducts or mastitis? I offer lymphatic drainage and ultrasound to alleviate discomfort and promote healing.

  • Assist in your breastfeeding journey with a posture assessment for the best breastfeeding and pumping positioning to decrease clogs and address Mommy’s Thumb.

  • Decrease pain with myofascial release and scar tissue mobilization for c-section scars or tearing.

  • Safely return to exercise without risk of prolapse, urinary incontinence or diastasis recti.

  • Education on positioning considerations for painful intercourse and techniques for return to intimacy.

  • Perform strength testing and running analysis for return to running progression and return to HIT without stress fractures or injury.

“I cannot thank Nicole enough for the support and care she provided during one of the most challenging times of my life. After my C-section, I felt weak, vulnerable, and unsure of how to rebuild my strength—but she met me exactly where I was, with so much compassion and expertise. She not only helped me regain core, pelvic floor, and back strength, but she also gave me the confidence to trust my body again. Her holistic approach nurtured both my physical recovery and my mental well-being, making me feel truly seen and supported. I am beyond grateful for her guidance and would recommend her to any new mom navigating postpartum healing.”- Erica
